MELVA: Digital showcase
MELVA: Mental Health Education through storytelling programme showcase.
This showcase is for anyone interested in finding out more about the MELVA programme and any school interested in engaging with it in academic year 24/25 & 25/26.
Join Mortal Fools, for a digital showcase of MELVA; a mental health Education through storytelling programme focusing on early intervention for children aged 7 to 11 (Key Stage 2) and older young people in specialist provision, using recognised and recommended mental health first aid strategies, communicated in a child friendly and accessible way.
It has never been more important for us to find new ways to talk to and teach children about mental wellbeing from an early age. MELVA is a creative, high impact intervention, doing just that through storytelling.
MELVA is for all children, not just those who are struggling. It focuses on teaching children the basic skills and understanding they need to keep themselves well, whatever challenges they might face in the future, supporting the development of resilience pathways, positive emotional responses and relationships.
Across this 90 minute showcase Mortal Fools will walk you through the MELVA invention consisting of different MELVA programmes: series of animations, a feature film in 5 episodes and a choose your own adventure game, each with wrap around activities, lesson plans, teacher resources, extension bank of activities and themed assemblies and an evaluation framework.
Mortal Fools will also share school case studies, impact data and testimonials from young people and a taster for the new for academic year 24/25 intervention for Year 6 focusing on transitions.
This showcase is open to any teacher/educator or settings interested in MELVA, Trust representatives, Local Authority School Improvement Teams & Public Health colleagues and potential commissioners & business sponsors.
